The Spouse KITAS — formally ITAS Kawin Campur (limited stay permit for mixed marriage) — is issued to foreign nationals legally married to an Indonesian citizen. It provides a stable, long-term legal basis for family life in Indonesia, including Bali.
Who Qualifies
- Foreign nationals with a registered, legally recognised marriage to an Indonesian citizen
- The marriage must be recorded in Indonesian civil records (Catatan Sipil / Dinas Kependudukan)
- Valid passport (minimum 18 months remaining)
Key Facts About the Spouse KITAS
- Validity: Issued for 1 or 2 years, renewable
- Work rights: The Spouse KITAS does NOT automatically grant the right to work — a separate IMTA (work permit) is required if you intend to be employed
- Sponsor: Your Indonesian spouse acts as the guarantee sponsor (penjamin)
- Re-entry: Multiple-entry re-entry permit (MERP) available for international travel
- Path to KITAP: After 2 consecutive years on a Spouse KITAS, you may be eligible to apply for a Permanent Stay Permit (KITAP)
